In this second part of our visit to Watches and Wonders 2025<\/b><\/a> in Geneva, we continue our deep dive into the fascinating world of fine watchmaking. The event offered a unique opportunity to closely explore the creations of prestigious houses, each showcasing its heritage, innovation, and remarkable craftsmanship.<\/p>

Throughout the exhibition, each booth stood out with creative displays that immersed visitors in the brand\u2019s DNA: carefully designed spaces, engaging encounters with staff \u2014 sometimes even the artisans themselves \u2014 and passionate presentations of their collections. A highlight of our visit was testing the Independence Skeleton Chrono 42mm<\/b><\/a>, a standout piece that perfectly captures the brand\u2019s modern, technical approach to watchmaking. The skeletonized dial reveals the inner workings of a high-performance chronograph movement\u2014developed in partnership with Swiss manufacturer AMT\u2014complete with a flyback function<\/b> and a 62-hour power reserve<\/b>.<\/p>

Available in Grade 5 titanium with black DLC and purple accents<\/b> or 316L stainless steel with gold-plated hands<\/b>, both versions are rugged yet refined, offering water resistance up to 100 meters and finished with a mix of brushed, polished, and sandblasted textures. It’s a watch that\u2019s equally suited for mountain adventures or urban exploration.<\/p>

We were warmly welcomed at Christiaan van der Klaauw<\/b><\/a>, by Pim Koeslag<\/b>, the owner and CEO of the esteemed Dutch watchmaking brand. The booth offered an intimate setting that perfectly complemented the exclusivity and intricacy of their timepieces.<\/p>

Pim graciously introduced us to the CVDK Grand Planetarium Eccentric Manufacture <\/b><\/a>CKGP1104<\/b>, a masterpiece that stands as the world\u2019s only mechanical planetarium watch<\/b> displaying all eight planets in real-time orbits around the sun<\/b>. He invited us to try on this extraordinary timepiece – an unforgettable moment.<\/p>

The watch features a 44mm case crafted from 18k rose gold, housing a dial made of aventurine glass that evokes a star-filled sky. The intricate planetarium mechanism, developed over seven years, comprises 3,338 teeth across its gears, accurately depicting the celestial dance of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. The level of detail is astonishing, with hand-painted planets\u2014Earth complete with its poles, and Jupiter featuring its iconic Great Red Spot.<\/p>

Pim shared that the development of this timepiece was a collaborative effort spanning three generations of the brand<\/b>. The concept originated with the CVDK Kepler’s Planetarium Clock<\/b> developed in 1995 by Christiaan van der Klaauw himself. Dani\u00ebl and Maria Reintjes contributed significantly to the creative vision over 15 years, and Pim brought the final concept to life with his technical mastery.<\/p>

The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the Lady Arpels Bal des Amoureux Automate Watch<\/b><\/a>, an extraordinary piece from the Poetic Complications<\/b> collection. This watch brings to life a romantic encounter through a mechanical ballet\u2014two lovers gradually approach each other on a miniature bridge, their movement orchestrated by an intricate automaton mechanism hidden beneath a stunning dial. It\u2019s not just a timepiece, but a mechanical love story rendered in gold, enamel, and diamonds.<\/p>

Beyond its beauty, the piece embodies the maison\u2019s ethos: to infuse watchmaking with emotion and enchantment. Every element\u2014from the miniature painting to the complication itself\u2014showcases the unmatched craftsmanship and artistic sensitivity for which Van Cleef & Arpels is renowned.<\/p>

The booth reflected the maison\u2019s refined identity: elegant, confident, and design-driven. It was a focused and intimate space where the watches spoke for themselves.<\/p>

The highlight of our visit was the Maestro GC39 25th Anniversary Edition<\/b>,<\/a> a tribute to 25 years of the Maestro collection and a celebration of G\u00e9rald Genta\u2019s original sketch that inspired the line. The GC39 retains the signature asymmetrical case shape<\/b>\u2014a daring and instantly recognizable silhouette that fuses classical proportions with playful, modern lines.<\/p>

This anniversary model elevates the Maestro design with subtle refinements and a beautifully reworked dial. Clean, geometric details are paired with a refined case profile, powered by an ultra-thin automatic movement developed in collaboration with Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier.
